President Md Abdul Hamid has expressed grief over the death of journalist Habibur Rahman Milon.

In a condolence message issued after the death of the Ekushey Padak winner on Sunday, the president said the country lost a devoted journalist.
 
He also said the nation will never forget his role in journalism.
 
Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Chairman Milon died at a Dhaka hospital.
 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also expressed sorrow over the death of the former president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).
 
Hasina’s Special Assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, citing a condolence message issued by the prime minister, said the nation will never forget for the courageous role he played during the military regimes after the assassination of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
 
Milon was the consultant editor of Bengali daily Dainik Ittefaq.
 
The government gave him the Ekushey Padak in 2012.
 
Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, her deputy Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip ASM Feroze also expressed grief over Milon’s death.
