Two die in a shootout in Joypurhat

Two men, allegedly belonging to a gang of robbers, have died in a ‘shootout’ with police in Panchbibi Upazila of Joypurhat at the wee hours ofTuesday.
Panchbibi Police Station’s OC Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal said the two killed were Abdus Salam, 50, and Joypurhat Sadar‘s Babu Mia, 40.
Another injured Ramesh Chandra, 40, who hails from Fulbarhi was admitted to Joypurhat Zilla Adhunik Hospital.
During the encounter two police constables- Bazlur Rashid and ‘Salim’ were also injured. They were given first aid.
OC Abu Hena told bdnews24.com, “Panchbibi police and detective branch police raided the area late at night based on a tip-off that robbers were preparing for a robbery. As the police surrounded them, the gang opened fire forcing police to retaliate.”
Few guns and ammunition were recovered from the spot, said the OC.
