No casualties have been reported as yet in the attack around 3pm Wednesday, Fire Service Control Room OC Enayet Hossain told bdnews24.com.

The Bihanga Paribahan bus had started off from Mirpur, he said. “It was set on fire near the bookstores at Nilkhet intersection.”

“Two fire fighting units quickly reached the spot and put the fire out.”

The fire official, however, could not confirm if anyone was hurt in the arson.

The ongoing transport blockade called on Jan 5 and accompanying shutdowns have been marked by petrol bomb and crude bomb attacks.

More than one hundred have died and thousands of vehicles have been torched.
