Actor Khalil’s loss irreparable: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has deeply mourned the passing of actor Khalil Ullah Khan.

“Actor Khalil won the hearts of audiences with his innate acting skills. His demise has caused an irreparable loss to our cultural arena,” she said in her condolence message sent by her press wing on Sunday.

The Awami League chief prayed for his soul, offering condolences to members of the bereaved family.

Khan passed away around 10am at the Square Hospitals. He had been suffering from lung, liver and kidney ailments for some years and was hospitalised several times after falling critically ill.
The actor, who starred in nearly 800 films, received the government’s lifetime achievement award for his contributions to Bangladesh films.
He had also acted in numerous television dramas.
Born on Feb 1, 1934, he had worked in Bangladesh Ansar, besides spending more than five decades in cinema.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at his long-time work place, the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation at 3pm, his son Musa Khan told bdnews24.com.
He will be buried in Mohammadpur after Esha prayers.
