Jamaat calls 24-hr shutdown for Thursday

The Jamaat-e-Islami has called a countrywide strike for Thursday in protest against its top leader Mir Quasem Ali's death sentence for war crimes.

The International Crimes Tribunal-2, headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan, sentenced him to hang till death on Sunday, nearly six months after the case was wrapped up.

The party said in a statement that  the 24-hour shutdown would start from 6am Thursday.
