A car carrying Chandan Sarkar had left the court immediately after Nazrul’s departure.

Police retrieved six floating bodies from the Shitalakhya River at Bandar Upazila, Narayanganj, in efforts stretching from afternoon to 6pm on Wednesday.

The first body was that of Nazrul, the councillor.

Four of the bodies have so far been identified. Two are those of the councillor’s aides Tajul Islam and Juba League activists Moniruzzaman Swapan, who had been abducted with him.

Bandar Police Station OC Aktar Morshed said members of the families did the identification.

The corpses had their hands and feet tied with bricks fastened to make them sink.
