The ceremony began at 12pm Monday with President and Chancellor Abdul Hamid in the chair.
Rolf-Dieter Heuer, the director general of European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), is the lead speaker at the convocation speaker.
He will be awarded a Doctor of Science degree at the event, university spokesperson Ashraf Ali Khan said.
Bangladesh Television will be telecasting the event live, he said.

According to the university, a total of 8,312 graduates will join this convocation.
Among them are 38 PhD, 25 M. Phil., 33 gold medalists, 33 MD-MS, 4,680 honours, 855 masters, 282 BDS, 221 Nursing, 201 Physiotherapy, 1 Education Faculty, 47 Homeo Ayurvedic, 103 B. Ed. And 72 M. Ed. holders.
