48th DU convocation begins

The 48th convocation of Dhaka University has started at the central sports ground in the campus.
The ceremony began at 12pm Monday with President and Chancellor Abdul Hamid in the chair.
Rolf-Dieter Heuer, the director general of European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), is the lead speaker at the convocation speaker.
He will be awarded a Doctor of Science degree at the event, university spokesperson Ashraf Ali Khan said.
Bangladesh Television will be telecasting the event live, he said.
The event can also be watched at http://livestream.du.ac.bd/convocation2014.
According to the university, a total of 8,312 graduates will join this convocation.
Among them are 38 PhD, 25 M. Phil., 33 gold medalists, 33 MD-MS, 4,680 honours, 855 masters, 282 BDS, 221 Nursing, 201 Physiotherapy, 1 Education Faculty, 47 Homeo Ayurvedic, 103 B. Ed. And 72 M. Ed. holders.
