48 kg gold haul at Chittagong airport

At least 48.5 kg of smuggled gold have been seized at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport.

The gold bars were found under several seat cushions on a plane which came from the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, said Customs Assistant Commissioner Moshiur Rahman Mandal.

The flight from Dubai landed around 8:30pm.
There were 422 gold bars, weighing around 48.5 kg, he told bdnews24.com. “The undeclared gold bars were worth almost Tk 220 million.”
No one related to the gold haul was arrested.
Customs officials had found 10 gold bars from five people within a span of three hours on Wednesday at the same airport.
On Tuesday, 14 gold bars were also seized from six passengers.
