Troubled centres poll on Jan 16

Fresh polling will be held in centres were balloting had to be stopped because of Opposition violence will be held on Jan 16, the Election Commission has said.

Such centres are spread across eight constituencies.

Election Commissioner Abdul Mobarak informed bdnews24.com of the decision on Monday, a day after Bangladesh voted in the 10th parliamentary polls.

There were as many as 153 uncontested wins in Sunday's polls as the main Opposition had boycotted the elections.

Voting took place in 139 constituencies and halted at eight others due to violence.
