'Already read judgment'

Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, said they had 'already read the judgment' in a web portal.

"We are here to witness the farce of a trial," he said outside the courtroom of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday.

Justice Anwarul Haque started reading the 172-page verdict at around 10:45am in a packed courtroom.

The younger son of BNP Standing Committee member referred to www.justiceconcern.org when asked where he read the judgment.

The six-time MP from Chittagong faces 23 charges of crimes against humanity committed during Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War.

On whether he had talked to his father, he said : “Have you ever seen him shutting his mouth?”

"We came in with our whole family to witness the fun," Hummam Quader said.

SQ Chowdhury’s elder son Faiyaz Quader Chowdhury and daughter Farzin Quader Chowdhury were also there at the time.

Hummam asked the journalists not to call him HQ Chowdhury. “You call my father Saka (SQ), don’t call me Hukkah (HQ).”

The BNP leader is most popularly known as SQ Chowdhury.
