The call was given out in a joint media statement on Sunday, a day after the MP reportedly beat up two journalists of Independent TV.

Rony and his associates attacked journalists Imtiaz Momin Sony and cameraman Mohsin Mukul, who went to his Meherba Plaza office at Topkhana Road to interview him for a crimes-based programme.

He was seen throwing punches and kicks at the newsmen in a video footage.

The senior journalists expressed concern over the attack and urged the government to ensure punishment of those responsible.

Until the matter was resolved, they called on everyone not to invite the MP to any programmes.

The Patuakhali-3 MP refused his association with the assault but offered apologies and promised to carry treatment costs and pay damages.

Rony and the Independent TV authorities have sued each other over the incident.
