Bipul Bhattacharya dies at 58

Noted singer Bipul Bhattacharya of 1971-war-time famed died of cancer on Friday. He was 58.
Bhattacharya’s former Betar colleague and a noted singer, Fakir Alamgir, told that the talent singer died at Ahmad Medical around 9:30 am Friday.
“He (Bipul) had been battling cancer for the last three years. Today he has left this world.”
Sammilito Sanskritik Jote president Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu told that the mortal remains of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artiste would be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Saturday 11am for people to pay their last respect before the cremation.
The singer’s body was taken to Chayanat from the hospital in the morning and then it was taken to his Mohammadpur residence, Yusuf said. The body will be kept overnight at BIRDEM hospital.
Bhattacharya inspired the masses for the independence through his singing at Swadhin Bangla Betar during 1971 at the age of just 16.
Bangladesh Loka Sangeet Parishad leader Indra Mohan Rajbongshi told that Bhattacharya’s cremation will be held at Postagola.
Bipul Bhattacharya was born in Kishoreganj in 1955. He lived by singing and teaching songs.
He was detected with lung cancer in Mumbai’s Tata Memorial Hospital in 2010. But he had to return to Bangladesh without completing the treatment as he could not bear the cost.
Then he was administered chemotherapy at Delta Hospital.
He was admitted to capital’s Samorita Hospital last month and was later shifted to Ahmed Medical.
