‘Emotional’ helpline launched

Kaan Pete Roi, the first emotional support helpline of the country, was launched recently to aid those feeling down.
The objective of the helpline, manned by trained volunteers, is to alleviate feelings of despair, isolation and distress, and suicidal tendency of the people, it said in a media release on Wednesday.
Anyone can call the helpline anytime from 3pm to 9pm on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays to receive immediate support.

The release said such helplines existed in over 40 countries and play an important role in suicide prevention and the promotion of mental health.
