He renewed the 13-point charter of demands at a rally at Bogra organised by the radical Islamist group.

He told the Prime Minister: “Fulfil the (Hifazat) demands. Otherwise we’re ready  to die.”

Shafi said though the government pledged to accept the demands, it has fulfilled not a single one.

The Hifazat chief said: “Atheists have to be driven away from this country. Atheists won’t be allowed to stay in this country. It’s a country of theists, not of atheists.”

He said they formed Hifazat-e Islam as the Quran, Prophet Mohammad and Islam were being defamed.

Shafi urged the Hifazat activists to peacefully enforce its May 5 blockade in Dhaka.

“We’ll observe the siege programme, but won’t be unruly and go for vandalism. Whatever we’ve done so far, we have done peacefully. ”
