Two more people have died of their wounds while undergoing treatment at hospital.

Rescuers started using heavy machinery to dig through the debris from Sunday night, five days since the nine-storey commercial block caved in on Apr 24 morning. Five dead bodies were retrieved until Monday afternoon.

However, a corpse of a man was found around 10pm. Relatives identified him as Israil Biswas as they received his body from Adhar Chandra High School.

Israil, son of Nur Mohammad of Jessore, lived in Savar's Genda.

At around 8:45pm, remains of Doyal Roy, 20, son of Padmalochon Roy of Dinajpur, was recovered from the ruins on the rear of the building. His nephew 'Dulal' received the body.

Bangladesh Army, which has been leading the rescue operation, said they were cautiously continuing the drilling to save anyone who might be still alive under the wreckage.

The rescue efforts were temporarily halted around 11:30pm.

Most of the injured from the collapse were admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital.

One of them, 'Riad', 18, son of Nurul Alam of Swandip, died in the afternoon while undergoing treatment at the private hospital.

He was hospitalised at around 6:30pm on Apr 24. Riad's corpse was handed over to his cousin Mohammad Amin.

Another injured, Shewli Akter, 27, succumbed to her injuries at around 10:30pm. She was brought to Dhala Medical College and Hospital from Enam Medical College and Hospital at noon.

There are 33 others who are also receiving treatment at DMCH.
