PM visits Savar victims

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday visited the Enam Medical Hospital in Savar to meet some of those who were admitted there following the collapse of Rana Plaza.

She later visited the site where the nine-storied Rana Plaza collapsed leaving at least 377 dead and many others unaccounted for.
Sheikh Hasina reached the Enam Medical after 9:00am, bdnews24.com Senior Correspondent at scene reported. She talked to the victims and offered solace. She inquired to the doctors about the conditions of those wounded.
She assured her government’s assistance for the treatment of the injured.
Chiefs of the three armed forces were accompanying her. However, local MP Talukder Mohammad Touhid Jong Murad was not around.
Hasina later visited the site near Savar bus stand where she was introduced to the rescue officials by Bangladesh Army’s Ninth Division Captain Maj Gen Chowdhury Hassan Suhrawardy.
She inquired about the operations to clear up the rubbles from junior LGRD Minister Jahangir Kabir Nank and also saw the photographs taken at the site over the last few days.
The Prime Minister later visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Savar to meet some other tragedy victims who are receiving treatments there.
Security around the site was heightened for the Prime Minister’s visit. Dog squad of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were conducting checks.
The building collapsed on Wednesday.
