Savar victims to get free treatment: Ruhal

All measures have been taken to bring the victims of Savar to Dhaka for free and better treatment, Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque said on Wednesday.

The minister told reporters after visiting the injured at the Enam Medical College Hospital, “We came here at the Prime Minister’s order. I am in constant touch with her. A total of 10 medical teams have arrived here from Dhaka.”

“Those who cannot be treated here will be taken to Dhaka”

‘Rana Plaza’ an eight-storey building collapsed in Savar at around 8:30 am on Wednesday. Authorities had asked the garment owners to close the factories located on the four floors of the building after a huge crack surfaced in the structure on Tuesday.

The minister asked why the garment factories were operating in the building that was declared unsafe, “the matter will be investigated and justice will be delivered”

Dhaka’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Iftekhar Hossain said, every family will receive Tk 20,000 from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for carrying out the last rites of the deceased.

He said the government will inform about providing assistance to rehabilitate the families of the victims.
