The Hifazat-e-Islam, a radical outfit, is currently staging a rally in Motijheel’s Shapla Chattar in support of its 13-point charter of demands.

It has announced a nationwide dawn-to-dusk general strike for Monday in protest against the alleged obstruction to its long march from Chittagong to Dhaka by the government.

The meeting started at 3pm on Saturday.

Minister for Shipping and Inland Water Transport Shahjahan Khan, Minister for Railways Mujibul Hauqe, Minister for Food Abdul Razzak, State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku, State Minister for Law Qamrul Islam and junior LGRD Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak were seen entering the meeting room.
The Home Minister may brief reporters about their discussion on the current situation, a high-level official of the ministry has said.
