Foreigners join their voices with expatriate Bangladeshis living in the German city of Frankfurt at a protest meeting seeking justice

Frankfurt, Mar 4 (bdnews24.com) – Expatriate Bangladeshis, some Germans and many other European and Asian nationals living in Germany have demanded a quick conclusion to the case involving murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Mehrun Runi.
They said they will draw the attention of the European Parliament and United Nations if Bangladesh government fails to bring the killers to justice within a deadline.
The group has decided to stage a human-chain protest seeking justice in front of the United Nations office in Bonn, Germany on Tuesday. A memorandum will be submitted to reach the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon.
The concern has come at a protest meeting in the German city of Frankfurt where the participants have demanded justice for the gruesome killings.
Nationals of Germany, England, India and many other countries also attended the meeting in Frankfurt.
Sagar, a news editor of private television channel Maasranga, was known to many expatriate Bangladeshis as he had worked there for three years with Bangla service of Deutsche Welle radio. Runi was a senior reporter with ATN Bangla television station, based in Dhaka.
Senior journalist and social activist Habibullah Babul is determined to take the case u with the European Parliament if Bangladesh government fails set a deadline to complete investigation.
"We are not satisfied with the progress with the case," he said.
The European Parliament is the law-making body of all the 27 member countries in the European Union.
Bangladeshi writer Lipi Mehjabin Ahmed said she believed a certain group was still trying to hide the reason of the double murder,
She said justice should be ensured at least for Mahir Sarowar Megh, the only son of the slain couple. The 5-year-old boy was at the apartment when assailants brutally killed his parents at their apartment in Dhaka on Feb 11.
The government had promised to unearth clues within 48 hours of the killing but even after 22 days police could not make any breakthrough.
