The Family Planning Media Award 2011 has been conferred on a senior correspondent of the online newspaper.

Dhaka, July 11 (bdnews24.com) – bdnews24.com senior correspondent Nurul Islam Hasib has been conferred with the Family Planning Media Award 2011.
Hasib received the award on Monday under the English Newspaper and News Agency category for his reports on women health and maternal mortality issues.
Six other newspaper, television and radio journalists also received the award in respective categories for their reporting on the issues.
The other award recipients are Shahnaz Munni of ATN Bangla, Jannatul Bakia Keka of Channel i, Tarik Hassan Shahriar of Daily Sun, Nikhil Mankin of Janakantha, Mansura Hossain of Prothom Alo and Jalilul Haque of Bangladesh Betar.
Health and family welfare minister AFM Ruhal Haque handed over the awards to the winners at a World Population Day programme in the capital.
Directorate General of Family Planning and United Nations Population Fund jointly offer the award.
The minister called upon all to help the government in its efforts to limit the population growth as demographers predict Bangladesh's population will double to 300 million in the next 50 years.
Earlier, Nururl Islam Hasib received fellowship from Women Feature Services in New Delhi in 2007 on Millennium Development Goal 5 and also won the UNFPA Media Award in the same year.
Starting his career as a Dhaka Medical College correspondent, Hasib has also worked for dailies The Independent and Daily Sun.
He is a graduate from Dhaka Medical College.
