Dulu denies allegation of buying party MPs panjabis with monga money

Dhaka, Feb 14 (BDNEWS) – State Minister for Food and Disaster Management Ministry Asadul Habib Dulu denied the allegation of buying his party members panjabis by selling 300 metric tonnes of rice from the special allocation for Kurigram during the monga last year.
When asked by AL lawmaker Mirza Azam in the question-answer session the State Minister said adequate food items including Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) cards had been allocated to tackle the monga (near famine situation).
During the time the opposition tried to open gruel kitchens there with narrow political interest. As their purpose could not have been served a few journalists who were accompanying the opposition leaders ran some news items deliberately, the minister said.
The State Minister said during the monga last year nobody died but two persons were killed as the motorcade of the opposition leader hit them.
In reply to another question of Golam Mohammad Siraj the State Minister said to store the food grains the government has set the target at 872 tonnes for the current FY.
In answering to another question raised by Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury the State Minister said at present the country requires a total of two crore 30 lakh and 13 thousand tonnes of food grains while the set target is two crore 71 lakh and 67 thousand metric tonnes.
