Chittagong, July 29 (BDNEWS) – The standoff between Chittagong BMA and Journalist's union Friday was resolved Friday following an understanding reached between the two groups.
The professional groups were at loggerheads following beating up of a journalist by some internee doctors of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
Zahid Al-Amin, staff reporter of daily Nayadiganta of Chittagong Bureau, was severely roughed up by some interns of CMCH on July 23 while he was on his professional duty at Ward no 25 of CMCH.
After the incident, the Nayadioganta management filled a case with Panchlish police station implicating some interns.
On the other hand, suspending medical services in the hospital and demanding withdrawal of case filed by the journalists since July 24, the interns had been holding a series of action programmes, including work abstention.
During the Friday's arbitration, mediated by former minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, journalist and BMA leaders were present.
