Thirty out of 119 jute mills closed, minister tells JS

A total of 30 jute mills out 119 are closed now, jute and textiles minister Shahjahan Siraj told the House Wednesday in reply to a question from Sarwar Jamal Nizam (Chittagong -12).

Dhaka, June 29 (BDNEWS)- A total of 30 jute mills out 119 are closed now, jute and textiles minister Shahjahan Siraj told the House Wednesday in reply to a question from Sarwar Jamal Nizam (Chittagong -12).
Of the total closed jute mills, two were state-run while the rest 28 were private-owned.
The state-run closed jute mills are –Monowar Jute Mills Ltd, Siddhirginj, Narayanganj and Daulatpur Jute Mills Ltd, Town Khalishpur, Khulna.
The closed private-owned jute mills are- AK Khan Jute Mills, Anowara Jute Mills Ltd, AK Haldar Jute Mills, Faridpur Afhil Jute Mills Ltd, Elaid Jute Mills Ltd, Chittagong Jute Manufacturing Ltd, Co-operative Jute Mills Ltd,The Dhaka Jute Mills Ltd, Fouzi Chatkal Ltd, Gouchia Jute Mills Ltd, Kohinoor Jute Mills Ltd, Mohsin Jute Mills Ltd, Makbular Rahman Jute Mills Ltd,National Jute Mills Ltd, Nawab Ashrafi Jute Mills Ltd, Kashem Jute Mills Ltd, Sonali Jute Mills Ltd, SKM Jute Mills Ltd, Sattar Jute Mills Ltd, Star Alkaid Jute Mills Ltd, Sultana Jute Mills Ltd, Taj Jute Mills Ltd, W Rahman Jute Mills Ltd, Jarina Carpet Industries Ltd, Ismail Carpet Industries Ltd, Saleh jute Industries, and Sarwar Jute Mills Ltd.
