5 Myanmar citizens held in border areas, security strengthened

Security has been beefed up in Thanchi and Naikkhongchhari in the backdrop of the arrest of five Myanmar citizens on three occasions over the last one and a half month.
Bandarban, March 30 (BDNEWS) – Security has been beefed up in Thanchi and Naikkhongchhari in the backdrop of the arrest of five Myanmar citizens on three occasions over the last one and a half month.
Two Myanmar citizens arrested at Lembuchhari border area of Naikkhongchhari Monday night were handed over to police Tuesday. They were identified as Sadhu Se Marma and Pru Thoai Ning Marma. They hail from Mongdu district of Arakan.
BDR personnel arrested them when they were roaming suspiciously inside Bangladesh territory at Lembuchhari BOP area.
BDR sources said, five Myanmar citizens were arrested in Naikkhongchhari and Thanchi border areas over the last one and a half month. Cases under the illegal infiltration act of 1946 have been filed against them.
Sources said, on the first occasion BDR personnel nabbed two Myanmar citizens Ang Ching (23) and Sul Mong (25) on February 12 from Bolipara of Thanchi thana. Later on the night of March 23 BDR personnel nabbed Mio Sang (29), a Myanmar soldier.
