Dhaka, March 24 (BDNEWS) – The government has formed a committee to formulate guidelines for the RAB personnel quickly so that the elite force can perform its duty efficiently, Home Ministry sources said.
Additional Director General of RAB Colonel Chowdhury Fazlul Bari has been asked to head the committee and submit the report at the earliest.
The participants at the meeting said that absence of guidelines and provisions for punishment are paving the way to some vested RAB personnel to get involved in malpractice.
Following the Wednesday's dacoity by some RAB personnel, the State Minister for Home Lutfozzaman Babar sat in an 'un-scheduled' meeting with the elite force RAB to discuss the issue, which caused concern on image of the whole elite force
Four RAB members along with two other local criminals Wednesday stormed Baghbari at Gabtoli in Mirpur Wednesday and looted Tk 800,000 from a cattle trader.
Inspector General of Police Ashraful Huda, Director General of RAB Anwarul Iqbal and other high officials of the Home Ministry attended the emergency meeting held at the RAB headquarters at Thursday.
The State Minister also stressed the need for gearing up the counter intelligence of RAB and strictly monitoring activities of the black strikers.
According to sources, if independent guidelines are framed, the RAB authorities could punish the guilty officials directly.
In the recent days, a total of 122 corrupt RAB officials were sent back to the mother organisations and punished according to the rules and regulations of their respective forces.
