'Chawkbazar to China'

Written as a travelogue, author Shanta Maria portrays the socio-economic condition of China. At the same time, the book gives a glimpse into cultural bonding between Bangladesh and China.

Says Shanta, "The book is not solely a travelogue, rather it's a cultural confluence between Bangladesh and China. I had travelled many cities of China when I was working in a radio station in China. I saw the social tensions in China and also the mythological aspects of the country. I narrated all those in my book."

"I spent my childhood in the old part of Dhaka named Chawkbazar. The book covers my experience in Chawkbazar and the time I spent in China," she says about the title of the book.

"I found some similarities of the narrow alleys of old Dhaka with similar alleys in towns in China."

'Chirosokha He'

Veteran West Bengal journalist and author Shankarlal Bhattacharya’s memoir 'Chirosokha He' delves into what Debabrata Biswas, Hemanta Mukherjee, Kanika Banerjee and Suchitra Mitra found in Rabindranath Tagore and his works.
