Bangladesh is going to polls on Dec 30, 2018 to elect the members of parliament.
“There is no scope for pushing back the election for some legal and constitutional reasons,” EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said on Thursday.
The EC’s decision came in response to the Jatiya Oikya Front’s call for deferring the polls date by a month.
The commission revised the polls schedule, deferring the election by a week. It set Nov 28 as the deadline for filing nominations, Dec 2 for scrutiny and Dec 9 as the last date of withdrawal.
