After Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda unveiled the roadmap on Thursday, Hanif also expressed the hope that the election will be held on Dec 23 with all parties.
“The smokescreen created by a political party or two over the election to the parliament has gone today through the announcement of the schedule,” the Awami League joint general secretary said.
“We hope the election will be held in a festive manner as per the schedule and all the political parties will join it,” he said.
The ruling party believes there is no need for deferring the polls as demanded by the Jatiya Oikya Front and the Jukto Front alliances, according to Hanif.
“We hope all the political parties, no matter whatever demands they have placed at different times, will contest in the polls in the public interest,” he said.
