Thousands of refugees fought their way through waist-deep waters on Wednesday with children and their belongings in search for higher ground.
The violence in western Myanmar began on Aug 25 when Rohingya insurgents attacked around 30 police posts and an army camp, killing around 12 people.
The killings led to a military response that has forced more than 421,000 Rohingya Muslims, more than half of them children, into neighbouring Bangladesh.
