He says Palestinians as a nation is fighting for  “justice, freedom and peace”.

He was speaking at a reception on Saturday at the embassy in Dhaka, marking the 51st anniversary of the start of the Palestinian revolution which was launched on January 1, 1965.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present among the ministers, diplomats and politicians at the event.

The envoy said this revolution was “inevitable due to the brutal, unlawful oppression of the Israeli force on my people since 1948”.

Bangladesh supports Palestine, and always demands the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people for an independent and viable State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Dhaka also condemns Israeli occupation and demands Palestine’s “full membership” in the UN.

The status of the Palestinian people is, however, changing by the day with more and more global support.

Last year on Sep 30, the Palestinian flag has been raised at the United Nations, for the first time, following an address delivered by President Mahmoud Abbas to the general assembly.

The Charge d’Affairs thanked Bangladesh for its support, and said the people of Palestine are “very grateful” for the support since 1971.

He said Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Palestinian former President Yasser Arafat set up the relations that exists even today.

He also appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for carrying forward the relations with her support “reflected by different policies”.

He particularly mentioned a recent Bangladesh proposal in the UN where Dhaka demanded “absolute withdrawal of the Israeli illegal occupying power and stopping genocide against men, women and children that has been going on since occupation”.

“I want to say that we are a nation which adores justice, freedom and peace. Without these principles, a life can never be meaningful at any point.

“This is the reason, why my people are sacrificing their precious lives for the sake of our children and generations to come,” the envoy said, urging all not to be misguided by the “Zionist propaganda” against Palestine.

“We are Human with flesh and blood and we have great value for people’s life and soul,” the envoy said, as he referred to the sacrifice of Palestinians for the sake of revolution.

But he asserted that “Palestinian people shall never give up their legitimate rights for self determination as well as return to their homeland and establish their own independent state with its capital, the Holy city of Jerusalem”.
