The win helped the hosts exact revenge against Iran who beat Bangladesh 2-1 in the last edition.

Bangladesh netted all three goals of the Group C match in the second half through Marzia, Moushumi Jahan and Tahura Khatun at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.

Bangladesh took the attack to the Iranians from the outset but were denied by the woodword and lost the plot in the final third several times as the game stayed locked at 0-0 at the end of the first half.

After the break, Marzia broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute.

Midfielder Maria Manda’s right footer from the top of the box was punched by Iranian goalie Maedeh before Marzia slotted the rebound into the net from the edge of the six-yard box.
Jahan then extended the lead three minutes later when she latched on to a square pass from Sanjida, and hit the target from the right corner of the box.
Substitute Tohura then wrapped things up with a clever header over the onrushing Iranian goalkeeper in the 85th minute.
Bangladesh will take on Singapore in their next match on Monday.
