Hong Kong end Bangladesh’s Asian Games run

Bangladesh conceded a 2-1 defeat to Hong Kong in their last Group B match as the Booters’ hopes of playing in the second round of an Asian Games ended on Monday.

Christian Annan struck first for Hong Kong in the 54th minute, while Lam Hok-hei doubled the margin in the 73rd minute to seal their second round spot at the Hwaseong Stadium in southern Incheon.

Bangladesh put everything into attack after the Hong Kong brace, managing to claw back a goal.

Aminur Rahman Shajib netted the goal for Bangladesh in the 77th minute.

Uzbekistan hammered Afghanistan 5-0 in the other match of the day as they advanced to the quarter-finals as group leaders.
