The inauguration match at the Sylhet District Stadium was delayed after fans entered the pitch taking advantage of poor security.

Sushil found the ball inside the box and fired home with a left-foot shot in the 78th minute.

The home side, habituated in counter-attack football, got their best chance just before Sushil scored.

Sohel Rana’s long-range shot was fended off the post by Nepal’s goalkeeper.

Bangladesh had won the first warm-up, played at the Army Stadium, 1-0.

The Asiad XVII will be kicked off on Sep 19 though the football event is starting from Sep 14.

Hong Kong, Uzbekistan and SAAF champions Afghanistan are Bangladesh’s contenders in Group B.

The Under-23 squad under coach Lodewijk De Kruif will start the campaign with the match against Hong Kong on Sep 15.
