Ronaldo ready for new season

A leg injury by the end of the last season has done Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo a disservice. The injury blow was also felt at the World Cup in Brazil. But the Portuguese is now recovered and completely prepared to take on the challenge of a new season.

Ronaldo failed to make an impression with the national side in Brazil as they were ousted from the group phase with a win over Ghana, a draw against US and a 4-0 drubbing by Germany.

The 29-year-old found the net only once in the campaign.

However, the two-time Ballon d’Or winner is now eyeing more trophies in the upcoming season with his club that won the 10th Champions League title and the Copa del Rey in their last outing.

“I'll try my best throughout the season like I do it every year. I'll try to be the best, try to help my team, try to score goals and try to win titles,” the striker told a sponsor's event in Tokyo.

“I'm really focused. My injury is gone. I feel very, very good,” he added.

He also expressed his desire to play “six, seven more years” at the top level of club competition.

He hoped for a repeat of last season's glory, saying he will have an “opportunity to win five, six titles this year”.

“This is my goal for every season, to prepare myself 100 per cent. And for me every season is a challenge so I want to be good again. I dedicate myself 100 per cent and I want to carry on like that until I finish my career.”
