His Facebook post generated much response—17,500 likes and 750 comments in four hours.

While most responses were positive, some attacked the Test captain for wishing people on Durga Puja despite being a Muslim.

Like Litton Das, these fanatics pulled up Rahim for greeting fans on Durga Puja.

Many of these hate responses came from an ID identifying himself as Shipon Mirza.
"Brother you are a Muslim, you remove pictures of Qurbani, but now you greet people on Durga Puja which Hindus celebrate," said a posting by Mirza.
"What is going on," he asks.
Mirza identifies himself as a follower of Jamaat-e-Islami leader and war crimes convict Delwar Hossain Sayedee.
Another post from 'Cloud Number Nine’ says, “This (greetings for Durga Puja) was not at all needed.”
And one Suman Ahmed says Rahim should have only wished “his Hindu friends” on Durga Puja.
On Monday, another Bangladesh cricketer Litton Kumer Das
