On Wednesday, Jatiya Party leader Fakhrul Imam cited a report from the Global Intelligence Network and asked the government to look into the findings relating to the illegal wealth of BNP leaders including its Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

To this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said: "So we have the findings. There is a scope to conduct an investigation under the Bangladesh Bank into the claims of money laundering.

"Necessary actions will be taken after analysing the findings. Those who have looted the people's money will not be spared. The moment we get a clue, we will get the money back."

Describing her remarks as "baseless and politically motivated," BNP Secretary Genera Fakhrul said: "The prime minister and her ministers are blatantly lying to confuse people and create new issues."

The BNP stalwart dared her to prove the "false findings."

"Nothing like this was found in the online portal that Fakhrul Imam mentioned," he said at a press conference at his party office on Thursday.

Global Intelligence Network conducts background investigations of individuals and companies for governmental compliance, regulatory due diligence, pre-employment backgrounds and employee re-evaluations in over 80 countries.
