Gopalganj District Awami League Office Secretary Ilias Haque told bdnews24.com Saturday night that the unit of the ruling party announced its full-fledged 71-member committee on July 17.
Sheikh Rehana was named a member of the advisory council in the committee, he added.
District unit President Chowdhury Emdadul Haque and General Secretary Mahbub Ali Khan have approved the new committee, Ilias said.
Sheikh Rehana's sister Sheikh Hasina, now the prime minister of Bangladesh, has been heading the Awami League for around 36 years.
Bangabandhu, the Founding Father of the Nation, and most members of his family were killed in the Aug 15, 1975, carnage. Hasina and Rehana were abroad during the massacre.
