The BNP chairperson, after attending a court hearing in Old Dhaka in the morning, went to Emmanuelle's Banquet Hall in Gulshan to attend an Iftar party organised by ally National Democratic Party or NDP on Thursday evening.

“I can’t speak, it’s too hot in here. I went to court in the morning -- through this heat. The sun was burning.”

The court is equipped with air-conditioners, but they are not turned on, she said. Khaleda alleged that court officials always keep the remote away.

"I have seen enough of drama there. I had to shout at them. Then they eventually turned the AC on."

At Emmanuelle's, Khaleda designated the party's secretary general to speak on her behalf.

Temperature in capital Dhaka reached 36.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the hottest in the past several days.
