The court ruling comes after the former prime minister and BNP chairperson's lawyer Abdur Rezzak Khan requested for more time for defence hearing in the case.

After heated arguments between lawyers representing Khaleda and those representing anti-graft watchdog, ACC, the court granted an extended two-day window to the defence side following proceedings on Monday.

The case is currently being tried at the court of Dhaka's Third Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar, set up at Bakshibazar.

In 2008, the Anti-Corruption Commission prosecuted six including Khaleda and her son Tarique Rahman on graft charges.

It alleged that the defendants had embezzled Tk 21 million from funds meant for the trust, which reportedly came from a foreign bank.

Khaleda's lawyers have also demanded reinvestigation into the case.

That demand will also be looked at in detail on Thursday, the court has ruled.
