Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Presidium members Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammed Nasim, Kazi Zafarullah, Sahara Khatun, Mosharraf Hossain, Nurul Islam Nahid, Abdur Razzak, Faruk Khan, Abdul Mannan Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen and Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya attended the meeting.
Quader's predecessor Syed Ashraful Islam, currently a member of the Presidium, left Dhaka earlier in the day to holiday in London.
Hasina said the Awami League was 'not only a political party, but it was also an institution'. "The Awami League brought independence to the country. Now we will have to achieve economic freedom."
She said the party's Oct 22-23 National Council was successful. "Even the foreign guests hailed us for the socio-economic development."
