He walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail-2 in Gazipur on Wednesday afternoon.

The prison’s jailor Md Nasir Ahmed said the prison authorities had received Rizvi’s release papers late on Tuesday night. The BNP leader was released around 5pm after an evaluation of the documents.

Rizvi was transferred to Kashimpur jail from Dhaka Central Jail on Aug 29.

The cases against him, five of which are on charges relating to violence, were filed with police stations at Khilgaon, Motijheel, Pallabi and Ramna.

All of them were initiated over incidents of sabotage and violence during the BNP-led blockade and shutdowns centering on the first anniversary of the 10th parliamentary elections in 2015.

Rizvi, who surrendered before a Dhaka court on Aug 18 this year, pleaded for bail in all cases. The court scrapped his bail plea and ordered that he be sent to jail.

After the BNP leader moved the High Court, he was granted bail in five of the cases on Sep 7.

Subsequently, he also obtained bail in the sixth case lodged at Ramna Police Station, to which the murder charges were added later.
