Dhaka court indicts 74 including Mirza Fakhrul in violence case with Paltan police

A Dhaka court has indicted 74 people including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a violence case with Paltan police.

Second Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh on Tuesday fixed Dec 4 to begin witness deposition in the case.

Paltan police had started the case on charges of obstructing police work, attempt to murder policemen and holding an illegal rally after a crude bomb blast occurred in front of the Hotel Capital on VIP road on Dec 9, 2012.

The chargesheet in the case was submitted in court in July 2014 accusing 74 leaders and activists of the BNP.

Apart from Fakhrul, the other senior BNP leaders named in it includes Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy.
