Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's press wing, said, "Our secretary general has flown for health check up. He has an appointment with the doctor on Sunday."

Mirza Fakhrul is suffering from a brain carotid artery blockage due to which he needs medical attention every six months.

He sought medical treatment thrice in the past. He has also visited the US last September.

On Jan 6, 2015, Fakhrul was arrested on a sabotage case and was lodged in the prison for about 7 months.
