Ten of the 17 members of the committee attended the meeting at her Gulshan office on Thursday.

They are Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, Tariqul Islam, ASM Hannan Shah, Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Secretary General Mirzxa Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

All of them other than Mirza Fakhrul have long been members of the BNP’s policymaking body.

Roy said after the meeting that the media will be briefed in details later.

Mahbubur Rahman and MK Anwar were absent due to illness, BNP leaders said.

Abdul Moyeen Khan is in the US.

New member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is currently visiting India.

Another new face in the committee, Salahuddin Ahmed, is also in India, but facing trial on charges of trespassing.

Khaleda’s son, BNP’s Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, who has also been drafted in the committee recently, is in the UK.

The BNP named the 17 members of the 19-strong panel on Aug 6, nearly four and a half months into its term that began with the party's National Council held in March.
