On Saturday, the BNP unveiled the new National Standing Committee, National Executive Committee and the Advisory Council to the Chairperson.

Mirza Fakhrul’s advice for those who have been overlooked - wait for the next time.

“There’s no option now as the committees have been announced.

“If anyone thinks he has been deprived then he should wait for the next council,” he said while speaking to reporters at the BNP headquarters.

As soon as the names were announced on Saturday, Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s former aide Mosaddek Ali Falu resigned. He was made a vice-chairman. The previous term’s assistant publicity secretary Shamimur Rahman also stood down.

Several other BNP leaders have also expressed their displeasure with the new committee while speaking to the media.

Mirza Fakhrul told the media at his office in the Naya Paltan headquarters that it was only natural that some qualified people will not make it to the committees in a political party.

“There are so many eligible people and it’s natural that everyone cannot be accommodated,” he said.
