After a meeting with leaders of 20 opposition parties at the party chief’s Gulshan office on Wednesday, BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the government has shown its irresponsible side up by rejecting the united opposition proposal against terror.
Jamaal-e-Islami, the party the government blames for peddling the terror attacks in the country alongside the BNP, was also present at the meeting.
Following the Gulshan carnage that left 17 foreigners among the 22 dead on July 1, Khaleda had proposed that the government join hands with the opposition to fight terrorism together.
After a condolence meet in honour of the Gulshan victims, Mirza Fakhrul had reiterated the proposal.
The government has ignored the BNP call however, blaming the party and its ally, the Jamaat, for the terror attacks in the country.
