The ruling 14-Party Coalition organised the demonstration at Central Shaheed Minar on Monday against militancy, violence, terrorism and communalism.

Students, teachers, doctors, engineers, cultural activists joined the demonstration.

Coalition spokesperson Mohammed Nasim said, “It’s not the time to be against the government, to criticise it. It’s the time to help the government. Please come forward to beat terrorism.”

The Awami League leader, along with some other speakers at the programme, blamed the BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami for the recent terror attacks.

Nasim said former members of Jamaat’s student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir have turned into militants.

“Now Khaleda Zia (BNP chief) wants to come to power by working with them,” added NAsim, the health minister.

JaSoD President Hasanul Haq Inu and Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, among others, spoke at the programme.
