At a press briefing on Sunday afternoon, she said, “Now, it is not important who will stay in power and who will come next. We are alive now, but we may not be here in future. But the country and the nation will remain. And today, their future is in crisis.

“That’s why we all must come together regardless of party and opinion to take a stand against terrorism, and to build a peaceful and safe democratic Bangladesh,” the former three-time prime minister said.

Prior to the briefing at her Gulshan office, she had met with the party’s highest policymaking Standing Committee members.
The Holey Artisan Bakery and O' Kitchen restaurant in Gulshan-2 came under attack around 8:45pm on Friday by gunmen who shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ while storming it.
The assailants killed two police officers, who had tried to enter the cafe to break the siege, and later took at least 33 people as hostages, including foreign nationals.
After 12 hours, army commandos stormed the eatery and rescued 13 hostages, killing six terrorists and arresting another.
The army said 20 hostages were found dead on the premises during the raid, all possibly slaughtered late on Friday.
It has been confirmed that the hostages killed included nine Italians, seven Japanese and an Indian. Three Bangladeshis were also among the dead and one of them was a US citizen as well.
