“It’s hard to differentiate if she (Hasina) is the prime minister or a minister of any other ministry. People of the country think she is the prime minister only in name, not the real prime minister,” she said on Saturday.

The BNP chairperson was speaking at an Iftar hosted in a Dhaka hotel by the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party, a part of the BNP-led 20-party combine.

Khaleda urged people to unite to overcome the ‘present situation’.

Referring to recent deaths in so-called encounters with law enforcers, she said ‘criminals’ were being murdered in ‘cross-fire’ to hush up government link to crimes.

“This (murders in encounters) is taking place even in this holy month of Ramadan,” she added.
