Despite repeated campaigns by the government, militants are still running free because that is how the head of the government wants it, says Khaleda Zia.

The BNP chief was speaking at an Iftar at the Ladies Club at capital Dhaka’s Eskaton.

“Such targeted killings have never occurred before,” she said, “Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, people of all religions are being slain. Who is doing this? The killings are planned and are being executed by Awami Leaguers.”

That’s why Sheikh Hasina says she knows who the killers are, alleged Khaleda.

“She knows, and yet she does not catch them. Instead, she lets them flee to other countries. On the other hand, innocent people are being jailed,” the BNP chief stated.

She also insinuated that foreign powers were currently involved in running the country.

At the Awami League Central Working Committee meeting on Saturday, Prime Minister Hasina announced having traced those responsible for the secret killings, Khaleda pointed out.

“Members of the ruling party are the ones involved,” Khaleda reiterated, “They are killing people and blaming the leaders of BNP and other political parties. The BNP does not believe in murdering nor is the party involved in these killings.”

She cautioned that the country today is susceptible to a one-party rule like BAKSAL. The atrocities of the ruling party will eventually become unbearable, and people of all faiths will be in danger, she said.

The former prime minister also alleged that Hindus are being suppressed and their land is being grabbed.

She called for unity within the 20-Party alliance and said, “You will see how the people will reject Awami League.”
